Maybe Bubba’s on the Bayou

Bubba a week before his untimely death

Well its happened again. We lost another wee one to Parvo. Days before Bubba was slated to be picked up from AC he fell seriously ill. As I mentioned in my post about Jordan Parvo can strike fast. I am sad and frustrated. People just don't seem to understand the importance of puppy vaccinations. It is imperative to follow-thru with this simple and relatively inexpensive necessity. The first year shots are the most important!! Puppies simply do not have the developed immune systems that older dogs do.

My heart is heavy for Bubba.

Vaccinate your puppies people!!!!!!

I am not an expert here as I have never had a puppy. All of my dogs were adults. I do know though that it is very important that puppies be vaccinated. Here is a guideline I found on a basic search.

5 weeks Parvovirus: for puppies at high risk of exposure to parvo, some veterinarians recommend vaccinating at 5 weeks. Check with your veterinarian.

6 & 9 weeks Combination vaccine* without leptospirosis.
Coronavirus: where coronavirus is a concern.

12 weeks or older Rabies: Given by your local veterinarian (age at vaccination may vary according to local law).

    12 & 15 weeks** Combination vaccine
Leptospirosis: include leptosporosis in the combination vaccine where leptospirosis is a concern, or if traveling to an area where it occurs.
Coronavirus: where coronavirus is a concern.
Lyme: where Lyme disease is a concern or if traveling to an area where it occurs.
